This is one of our favorite places for breakfast/brunch ANYWHERE, and we’re lucky enough to live nearby! There are two locations in Williamsburg, but we prefer the Norge/Lightfoot location on Richmond Road.
For this visit, we had just toured a house for rent since we’re trying to get a little more space, and would absolutely love to have a garage (Storage? What?!? Yes please.) and wanted to grab some food before work. We got our favorite server (yay!) and ordered water for me and coffee for Stephan. Even though we’ve been a few times, we always take our time looking over the menu, because there’s so many awesome things to choose from.
Stephan decided on the Big Pancake Breakfast and I chose the Fried Catfish Cafe Combo.
Stephan’s meal came with two eggs (he chose scrambled), bacon, sausage, ham, garlic fried potatoes, grits, and a pancake. Mine came with two pieces of fish, two eggs (I also chose scrambled), toast ( I chose rye), and a choice of grits, garlic fried potatoes, or baked apples (I chose the grits).
Honey Butter’s make the absolute best grits I’ve ever had in my life. They taste like mashed potatoes, but with the consistency of grits. They don’t need butter or salt, but we usually add a little pepper. Seriously–if you think you don’t like grits, try these.
Stephan said his meal was a solid representation of all the breakfast classics–and his pancake filled the entire plate! Mine was equally delicious–the catfish was fall-apart tender, super juicy, and not the tiniest bit greasy. They put a bit of waxed paper under the fish to catch any excess grease, but there was none. It was perfectly fried. It also came with a cup of tartar sauce, that was appreciated, but not necessary since the fish was so flavorful on it’s own.
Honey Butter’s is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch at this location, and also for dinner at the Monticello Marketplace location. In addition to the breakfast options, there are a number of salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and full lunch plates on the lunch menu. You can check out the menu on their website http://www.honeybutterskitchen.com/candle-factory-location
Prices are good, service is fast and friendly, and the food is delicious. Definitely worth a stop when you’re in Williamsburg!
